Sinus Lifts in Pueblo, CO
Our highly trained team specializes in oral and maxillofacial surgeries to help improve and restore the oral health of men and women in Pueblo and the surrounding communities. We offer many oral health solutions, including sinus lift surgery.
What is a Sinus Lift?
This sinus lift procedure is performed to add bone tissue to the upper jaw area that is toward the back of the mouth where the premolars and molars reside. The bone grafting restores and provides new bone structure between the jaw and maxillary sinus cavity. A sinus lift is a highly specialized procedure that requires great precision as the sinus cavity is carefully lifted upward to make room for the new bone. This process allows for future dental implants to be placed and eventually restore missing teeth in the top jaw. Our oral surgery team has years of extensive experience in performing sinus lift surgery to aid in optimal oral health. Reach out to our team at Oral Surgery Specialists of Pueblo to learn more about how sinus lift surgery can help you.
Is Sinus Lift Surgery Right for Me?
You may consider sinus lift surgery if you need to replace a missing tooth with a dental implant or remove a decayed tooth from the upper jaw area. This procedure may also be ideal if there is insufficient bone mass in the top jaw that does not allow for safe and secure support for a dental implant to be placed. When you visit our Oral Surgery Specialists of Pueblo practice, we will utilize Cone Beam 3-D imaging technology to capture detailed images of your jawbone, sinus cavity, and surrounding oral structures to create a custom treatment plan that addresses your needs and concerns.
How is a Sinus Lift Procedure Performed?
Our oral surgery team performs sinus lifts within a surgically accredited facility to ensure the safety and comfort of our patients. We can also incorporate the use of sedation dentistry to help keep you calm and relaxed during your procedure. We offer a variety of sedation options, which we often discuss during your initial consultation to help with moving forward and seamlessly at the start of surgery. Once the designated area has been properly numbed, we will create an incision in the gums to access your sinus cavity. A specialized tool is then used to elevate the sinus cavity for the implementation of new bone tissue. Once the bone graft is in place and the sinus cavity is repositioned, sutures will be used to close the small incision.
What Can I Expect After My Treatment?
Once your treatment is complete, we will give you Post-Operative Instructions to best care for your mouth and discuss symptoms to look out for during your recovery. If at any time you have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact our office so we can provide you with prompt care. You will experience swelling and discomfort, especially in the first few days following surgery, but this should dissipate over time. We will also schedule a follow-up appointment about 1 – 2 weeks after your surgery to check on your healing progress. Dental implants may be placed at the same time as a sinus lift surgery or placed around 4 – 6 months after your sinus lift once the bone graft has healed and fused properly to the jawbone.
Are Sinus Lifts Covered by Insurance?
Sinus lifts may be covered by your dental insurance depending on your specific coverage. Our team will reach out to your provider to verify your benefits and calculate any personal expenses that may incur. Our goal is to help make the oral care you need more affordable so you can receive the treatment you deserve. If you have limited coverage or are paying out-of-pocket, we accept most major credit cards and also accept third-party financing through CareCredit® and CredCompare. CredCompare involves a simple application process that performs a soft credit pull with no affect to your credit score. Once submitted for prequalification, CredCompare allows several different financing companies to review your patient profile and to compete for assistance in your healthcare investment.
